ABOUT BIOMEX SPORTS SCIENCE

Founded in 2018, Biomex Sports Science aims to promote sports science to a wider audience. At present, due to the specialisms of the contributing authors, the primary focus is on the disciplines of biomechanics and performance analysis. As the team develops and further specialisms are added to the team's repertoire, other disciplines will be covered in more depth.

WHAT WE DO

Research

At the heart of Biomex Sports Science is research.

Not all research is able to be published in peer-reviewed journals but offer key findings that help understand the context of a question and additional research published in the area. Biomex Sports Science acts as a host to promote completed research studies that may not have otherwise had an opportunity to be read.

Additionally, the website provides an opportunity for contributors to advertise their future research intensions by presenting proposals for individual studies or a collection of studies. This will also allow researchers to find supervisors or funding as well as highlighting areas of the research which require further investigation.

There is a nominal fee (£1) to download PDF versions of completed studies and study proposals. This cost is in the form of a charitable donation with more information available in the research section. The nominal fee allows research that may be useful to be available without pricing anyone out of the market.

Articles

Contributing authors will also be able to provide review articles on a range of areas within their area of specialism. Although these are also based on peer-reviewed scientific literature, these articles are written in a more relaxed manner to not alienate any potential readers. This means a comprehensive review of the literature in a more simplistic, easy to read approach for a wider population to read and fully understand without an extensive understanding of scientific methods or literature.

Consultancy

Still to be formalised but the aim will be to include practical field work with sports teams and organisations, as well as individual athletes, with the purpose to improve performance, prevent injury and assist rehabilitation.
